Migrant Youth: July 2009 Archives

It's been a busy few days of tweeting and video taping at the annual National Council of La Raza conference in Chicago, Illinois.  The last time I produced a youtube video was at the last National Council of La Raza Conference in San Diego, California.  It's fitting that I'd start again exactly one year later.

Unfortunately, I don't have the best video editing software this time around, so my ability is limited.  I spent all this morning trying to figure out how to remove the shadows from the text on Windows Movie Maker to no avail.  Prerna from dreamactivist.org has been needling me to get the video up, regardless, so here it is.

Today, I had planned on writing to encourage people to stop the deportation of another DREAMer, who's name is Taha.  Taha's campaign was even more rushed than the Walter Lara campaign.  I first heard about Taha on the July 20, 2009.  Dreamactivist.org was spearheading the effort to stop Taha from getting deported on July 29, 2009.  That is not much time at all.  Even worse we didn't have anyone on the ground in New Jersey to help out.  On top of that, Taha was difficult to get in touch with.  I always hope for the best and expect the worst, but I was certainly leaning more towards the latter for this campaign.
